The ASSC does lots of great work supporting self catering businesses and upholding standards across this tourism sector.
You probably know that now self catering properties in Scotland must have a licence. We must confess it was a bit of a faff going through the process, but guidance from ASSC was hugely helpful. We broadly agree with licencing because you should then be confident that you are booking a holiday home that is safe.
Other developments in our sector include the removal by Visit Scotland of the Star Rating scheme – this is a shame but now so many of us look at online sources such as Google etc its understandable. Visit Scotland is now focussing its efforts on inspiring people to visit Scotland.
We were proud to hold our 5 Stars since we launched our self catering property business. The inspectors gave us lots of good advice which we took on board and will carry on in the 5 Star spirit!
The loss of this rating means that we will be more dependent on Google reviews etc so it would be lovely if you have stayed with us to give us a shout out on social media – it means a lot!
